General Program Questions
What is AgMpower used for?
AgMpower helps grain farmers create crop plans, calculate breakeven prices, track marketing progress, manage inventory, project cash flow, and compare performance against peers.
What’s the difference between AgMpower and FarmMaximizer?
They share the same engine. AgMpower is branded for independent farm use, while FarmMaximizer includes integration with Cargill advisors and APIs.
What do red vs black numbers mean?
Red = system-calculated values. Black = user-entered values. This applies throughout the program (inputs, cash, inventory, etc.).
What is a Scenario?
A version of a farm plan for a given year. You can have multiple scenarios per year to test different assumptions (Actual, Budget, Expansion, etc.).
How do I make a copy of my farm plan for next year?
Go to the What If: Create page, use the copy tool, and choose to copy a scenario into the next year.
Why is my Actual showing a different profit than my Plan?
Because Actuals use real sales contract pricing. Plans use My Prices. Always compare plans to plans (or Actuals to Actuals) to avoid this mismatch.
Where do I enter my crop sales?
Use the %Sold page. Sales can also be created via the Cash Flow page, but %Sold is the preferred place.
Crop Plan Module
Can I have more than one crop plan for the same crop?
Yes. You can split Canola into multiple crop plans based on land, variety, or strategy.
How do I bulk update seeding dates, prices, or other variables?
Use the Bulk Update tool from the Crop Summary page.
What does the Revenometer mean?
It shows how much of your revenue is priced, and how it compares to expected input and overhead costs.
Where do I enter fertilizer or seed costs?
In the Crop Plan popup window under the Inputs tab.
How is the breakeven price calculated?
It combines your input costs (from the Crop Plan) and your Overhead expenses to calculate a price that produces $0 Cash Surplus.
%Sold & Marketing
Can I enter different types of grain sales (futures, basis, etc.)?
Yes. The %Sold page has separate entry options for:
- Grain Delivery Contracts
- Futures Contracts
- Basis Contracts
- Options Contracts
How do I know if I’m behind on marketing?
The Year %Sold Gap to Rec widget and the Region %Sold page show progress against advisor recommendations.
How do I enter an Offer?
Create a contract with type = Offer. It will appear in your marketing total but not be counted as Priced.
Inevntory
Where do I update my inventory?
Use the Inventory page to record grain carried forward, new harvest volumes, and deliveries.
What if I haven’t delivered all my contracts yet?
Undelivered contracts are tracked in the Inventory page. The Undelivered Contracts widget will also show all outstanding deliveries.
Can I have inventory for past crops (e.g., old canola)?
Yes. Use the correct crop year and report carry-forward volume and value.
Cash Flow
What are the Used vs Paid columns?
Used = when the expense is used (e.g., fertilizer applied). Paid = when cash actually went out.
These may differ due to prepaids or deferred payments.
Where does the bank balance come from?
It starts with your beginning balance (from the Balance Sheet) and updates each month based on inflow and outflow.
What does the graph mean?
It shows how inventory and bank balance move month-by-month. The goal is to avoid negative cash.
Why do I see a negative fertilizer balance in May?
It means you’ve used more fertilizer than you prepaid or paid for. It becomes a payable.
Profit and Benchmarks
Why are some overhead values $0?
That means the user hasn’t entered those values, or system values were not carried forward.
What does Net Profit vs Cash Surplus mean?
Net Profit = Revenue – Inputs – Overhead (Direct + Fixed).
Cash Surplus = includes cash-only items like loan principal and dividends.
What do the Benchmark graphs show?
How your farm compares to peers (region, size, insurance district) for revenue, cost, and margin per acre. Orange line = your farm.
Miscellaneous
Can I print my plan?
Yes. Click the printer icon on the top-right of most pages.
Can I undo a change?
Yes. Click the Undo icon to reverse your last entry.
What do the colors in the Revenometer mean?
Red = Inputs, Blue = Overhead, Yellow = Priced Revenue, Green = Unpriced Revenue. Hover for tooltips.
Why can’t I edit red values?
Red means calculated. You must go to the source module (e.g., Inventory or Overhead) to change it.
What is the Mobile Version for?
It was a simplified phone interface, now deprecated. Use the main site on mobile instead.
